Popular amongst the masses is the authentic hapus or Alphonso from Kokan and is known as the ‘King of Mangoes’ for its flavour, sweetness, and richness. During the summer months, chilled and sweet mangoes come as quite a relief. As the temperature is rising due to change in climate in the Konkan region of Ratnagiri, Rajapur and Devgad, the places where we get the original Hapus, it is affecting the crop of the king of fruits. MyKo – India’s first mangotech platform which has brought together 100 farmers from Konkan region, is bringing mangoes right to your doorstep through their online portal.
The platform has listed only GI registered farmers so that you get only authentic Alphonso mangoes using SOP based operations for quality output and has a robust supply to deliver naturally ripened mangoes
It is bringing mango happiness box for mango lovers and it will be at your doorstep with all safety measures and precautions. Each box that consumers receive has a distinct QR code on it. In one scan, the story behind the boxful of mangoes unfolds giving consumers an insight behind which farm produce this box has been shipped from, when it was planted, who is the farmer and what goes into producing the king of fruits.
The platform thus intends to offer consumers a very emotional experience when you cherish the fruit. The GI tag for Kokan has further strengthened the quality of the produce that is obtained as a result of the farmer’s hard work.
Bulk orders of 50 boxes and more are also being catered to especially for housing societies, corporates and more. These boxes will be delivered in specially designed climate controlled Reefer vans which will ensure mangoes reach the consumers at the right temperature. The team will be delivering mangoes to places like Mumbai (MMR), Panvel, Nashik, Nagpur and more.
Rajeshree Yadavrao co-founder, Myko, said, “With the new lockdown regulations in places, people will prefer to order authentic Kokan mangoes online. With MyKo and our associate farmers, we are poised to ensure that mango lovers get their favourite mango at their doorstep in various parts of the state.”
“The Alphonso mango trade in India has been highly unorganised since years with plenty of malpractices been carried out at markets due to mixing of other variants of mangoes from other regions like Karnataka, Gujarat etc. We wanted to stop this practice hence the idea of MyKo, India’s first mangotech platform was born. The initiative brought together 100 farmers and create a market place to sell mangoes not just in the domestic market but also overseas. Myko’s #farmertohome initiative and endorses the promotion of authentic GI tagged Alphonso mangoes from Konkan region only”, added Yadavrao.
Sanjay Yadavrao, founder, Global Kokan, said, “The whole initiative of starting MyKo was to ensure the hard work of alphonso mango growers from Kokan and Alphonso breed of mango getting the right value in the local and international markets. Myko’s aim of making the Alphonso mango trade organised, curbing the malpractices in the trade and thus safeguarding farmer’s interests is highly commendable.”
This initiative is supported by APEDA and Maharashtra State Agriculture Marketing Board (MSAMB).
